About this Nominee
When dementia strikes, it impacts not only just the person diagnosed but family and friends who care for that individual. Supporting a loved one struggling with cognitive and behavioral decline is emotionally and physically draining. Amazing Place provides caregivers with next step advice, resources and support free of charge. Through our many programs and support networks we equip caregivers with the tools, resources and encouragement needed to understand the disease and manage associated challenges. For those diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia, our Day Program engages participants in creative, cultural, social, spiritual, nutritional and physical activities of their own choosing that help slow progression of memory decline. For the community, business and church organizations, Amazing Place experts offer their knowledge about brain health, tips on memory enhancement and techniques to age with positivity and purpose through presentations at no charge. This is important as we have learned that adopting a healthy lifestyle when younger greatly decreases the risk of getting dementia later in life, and much can be done to slow progression of the disease even as we age.
